Heathlands Community Preschool & Out of School Club
Our Team

Marie Fennell – Manager
I qualified in 2010 with a degree in Early Childcare studies.  Prior to this I loved raising my children and was actively involved in both preschool and primary school committees as chairperson.

I have worked closely with children In Care and supported the children and families experiencing separation & divorce.  I spent several years based at Highfield Children’s Centre and Nursery School working in the Early Years classrooms, predominantly leading the 2-year nursery provision and also as part of the family support team.  I have lots of experience at Early Years Education and Social Care.

I spend some time working in the Early Years and Childcare leadership team which was very interesting, however I was drawn to work back in a setting with children!

I am passionate about children’s early education and care experiences.  I am fascinated by the way children learn through play and working with children has taught me a lot about myself.

I love the natural world and believe this should be a big influence in children’s experiences.  I feel privileged to lead Heathlands and am proud of our team and all that we achieve to ensure each of our children have the very best start.

Hannah Randall – Deputy Manager (Maternity Leave)
I have been at Heathlands since November 2012. I have since completed my level 5 diploma in Children and Young Persons Workforce and my level 4 Special Educational Needs Coordinator. I am trained in using Makaton to level 8. I have gained certificates in PECS awareness, paediatric first aid, safeguarding, child protection, autism awareness training, food safety and nutrition training. I love helping children to develop and learn, and seeing them achieve new skills and the excitement this gives them. I have an interest in helping children with special educational needs.

Tammy Flores - Senior Session Leader
I have been with the team at Heathlands since 2009. I hold a level 3 NVQ qualification in Children's Learning and Development along with many other qualifications from courses including Safeguarding, First Aid and Food Hygiene and Achieving Positive training and now hold a level 8 certificate in Makaton.

When I became a mother, I began to understand that when children are supported and encouraged, they can absorb huge amounts of information! I take great delight in the part I am able to play in helping children learn and express themselves through play. I am an approachable, fun and zany member of the team with a personality as big as my smile!

Emma Bartholomew – Early Years Practitioner
I have been involved in Heathlands since 2009, through training and volunteering, becoming a full member of staff in 2013. I have a level 3 in Childcare and Education which I obtained in 2013.  Since then I have attended a number of interesting courses. I am the “Tapestry” and “Facebook” leader and work closely with families to encourage home learning.

I am enthusiastic in my role as a Childcare Practitioner and enjoy being a key worker, caring and looking after children. It is rewarding helping and watching children grow and develop through the early years of their lives. I am an approachable member of the team, always willing to help, play and to have fun with the children!

Tasha Parsons – Early Years Practitioner
I have been working at Heathlands Preschool and Afterschool Club since September 2015.  I also have many years’ experience in working with children through volunteering at several nurseries and playgroups.  I hold a Level 3 diploma in Child Care and Education along with many other qualifications I have gained from courses including Safeguarding, First Aid, and Supporting children with EAL.  I am also the Health & Safety Officer.  I have always wanted to work in child care and I love the role I have at Heathlands in helping children learn and express themselves through different types of play.  I learn new things everyday and the children never fail to make me smile as they brighten up each day,

Matthew Leach – Deputy Manager Out of School Club

I started my role of Deputy Manager of the Out of School Club in the Summer of 2016.  I have currently completed my Level 4 NVQ qualification in children and young people in a workforce.

I am familiar with a range of complex needs such as autism syndrome, those with hearing impairments, slow global development delay, Asperger’s behaviour problems and those with down syndrome.  I love helping children learn and play and get a massive satisfaction seeing them happy!

Caroline Teague – Pool Staff
I enjoy my role working with the children at Heathlands and have been a member of the Pool Staff since November 2016.  In my previous role, I worked for 2 ½ years with children aged 3-16 who were learning at the foundation stage level.

Lisa Cheadle - Pool Staff
My son spent two very happy years at Heathlands prior to starting full-time school and, I successfully completed my final module in Makaton during that time I established a good relationship with the Heathlands staff.  In September 2016, I was asked if I would like to go join the team as a “pool staff” member and readily agreed!  I have completed courses on “Level 2 - Food & Safety & Hygiene for Catering & Safety”, “Safeguarding Children Introduction” and “Ignite to Write”.  I thoroughly enjoy my involvement with Heathlands and love the interaction I have with the children; watching them learn and grow, progressing on their way to full-time school.

Lisa Ellis – Pool Staff
I recently joined Heathlands in September 2016.  I hold a BTEC National Diploma in Childhood Studies.  I have had many roles working with children in Nurseries and as a Kids Club Rep abroad.  Prior to starting at Heathlands, I worked at the Ipswich Hospital as a Care Assistant on the maternity wards, specialising in new-born care and feeding.

Julie Bedford – Administrator
I started my role of Admin Assistant at Heathlands in April 2013.  My daughter was nearing school age and it felt the right time to get back into the workforce after being a full-time Mum for 4 years.

I have previously worked in the IT and Telecommunications industry for 22 years, where my experience has been in programme office management. I hope to be able to put my experience to good use in the pre-school and am delighted to be working at Heathlands and am looking forward to working with staff and parents to help the pre-school run as efficiently as possible.

Jayne Watling – Admin Assistant
After many volunteer sessions I joined the team in 2011 as Pool Staff.  I have 2 daughters who have come through Heathlands and I thoroughly enjoyed the chance to watch my youngest progress and become school ready.

I have now become a member of the admin team alongside Julie which I love. Courses currently attended are Food Hygiene & Safety, Safeguarding and Paediatric First Aid.
